I love Christmas. I love the decorations, the lights in my home, the music, family, and friends. I’ve been more intentional to experience the joy of this season. But something that has been laid on my heart is remembering those around us who are not enjoying the season. There are people who feel alone and suffer silently in their isolation. They may be having their first Christmas after losing a loved one (or fifth and are still having a hard time). They may be struggling with depression or anxiety. Whatever the source of their struggle, there are some who will get lost in their darkness and will think about ending their life.

Pray for them.

Pray that they receive a gesture of kindness,

a gesture of love that could be so small yet pure and profound,

that they realize,

they are not alone,

they are worthy,

they are loved beyond anything they could imagine,

people care,

But more importantly,

God cares.

May the ember of hope glow brightly in their darkest hour and in their line of sight.

You may be praying for someone in your immediate circle and not know it.

So enjoy this Christmas season and pray for those who emit a cold and broken Hallelujah.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”            Isaiah 41:10
