Jason went on a run Tuesday evening and returned with this little fellow. On his way home, Jason heard peeps and watched as a gaggle of ducklings were trying to get close to their mama….but she was smashed and dead in the middle of the road. Jason ran over and tried to grab as many as he could. He had two but one jumped out of his grasp. He tried to get more but they all scrambled peeping into the bushes on the side of the road and it was dark.
When he arrived home, our two dogs and two cats were all VERY curious about our jumping peeping little guest.
We called everyone we knew and finally got someone who knew how to care for ducklings and was ecstatic to get this one 🙂 So a happy ending for this little one.
Jason went back the next morning to see if there were any others left and there weren’t. Someone said the measure of a civilization is how it treats its most vulnerable members, children, the elderly, and animals. What about individuals?
This makes me smile because Jason is this big burly man who has an even bigger heart and isn’t afraid to show it.
