Today I woke up and knew I needed to carry my family this week and that I could not do it alone…I don’t have the strength to do it.

Last night was hard for our family. Our teens struggle with the isolation, as most have, not being able to go to school and see their teachers and friends.

On the heels of celebrating Mother’s Day, I feel the weight of being the heart of our home, to toe the line for myself, for my husband, for my son, for my daughter.

As I got up early this morning, I did the chores left undone from the night before and was suddenly thirsty to hear who Jesus is…so I re-watch, re-listen to the “Seven -Way King” as spoken by Dr. S.M. Lockridge on New Spring’s July 21, 2019 sermon (which can be found on their app btw). I hear:

“He’s the greatest phenomenon that has crossed the horizon of this world. He’s the centerpiece of civilization, He’s unparalleled, He’s unprecedented, He is the loftiest idea in literature, He’s the highest personality in philosophy, He’s the fundamental doctrine of true theology, He’s the only one qualified to be an all-sufficient savior….He strengthens and sustains, He guards and He guides, He’s the key to knowledge, the wellspring of wisdom, the doorway of deliverance, the pathway of peace, the roadway of righteousness, the highway of holiness, His love never changes, His Word is enough, His grace is sufficient, His reign is righteous, His yoke is easy and His burden is light.”

It feels silly to have to be reminded of how great our God is, but I did. Then I gravitated to the last song sung on Mother’s Day this past Sunday called “The Blessing.” New Spring’s Worship team nailed this song as it pierced my core. I had never heard this song before but had to have it, so I downloaded it.

I looped this song and wondered if the lyrics were scripture. I began praying. I prayed for the strength, for the wisdom to get through this week…. to toe the line…because it’s not just for my family, it’s for the ministries I help lead and each person or family engaged in those groups. Because I made a promise to God, to serve Him for the rest of my days.

As I pray, I am nudged by the Spirit to open my Bible, and I obey …. hungry….seeking.

My attention goes to an old orange flag folded in towards the page, so I open the Bible there to unfold the flag and see the scriptures underlined in orange….. Numbers 6:24-26.

“May the Lord bless you

And protect you.

May the Lord smile on you

And be gracious to you.

May the Lord show you his favor

And give you his peace.”

I quickly realized these are the lyrics of the song I was looping. And just like that, I felt the Lord smile on me, reminding me that He hears my prayers, He is with me, and He is for me.

I have no recollection underlining this scripture in my Bible but was elated the Lord revealed His words to acknowledge and answer my prayer.

I write all of this down to remember God is faithful and if we seek Him…. He answers!
