This occurred to me as I was reading scripture this morning. Any good thing I have done I cannot take credit for because the source of all good things is God. And of all the good things, of all the fruits we enjoy, love is by far the most important. Acting from love and responding from love is the most transformative and impactful thing we can do. God loved us by giving us, Jesus. And Jesus loved us in everything He did. What would it be like to respond more often from love than anything else?
John 15:5- Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
1Corinthians13:4-8 – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…
1John4:16 – And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
