In early 2017, Jason and I starting attending NewSpring Church and soon after went through Starting Point, an 8-week course. Starting Point provided me a safe space to explore my faith journey and ask questions about Christianity. During those 8 weeks, I learned about terms that I had little knowledge about but had attached strong associations to. I learned who Jesus Christ was. Every session had a 1 hour video of Andy Stanley engaging the audience in a way that was fresh and relatable.
The events that led up to my walk with Christ were many, but I credit Starting Point with defining my faith terms of a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ. About a year later, Jason and I would be recommended and invited to lead Starting Point groups. We said yes and now get to witness others discover, wrestle, and explore their faith. Since Jason and I have transitioned to leading our couples group and I started a women’s group. If anyone would have told me years ago that I would be leading small groups at a church and talking to people about their relationship with God, I would have called them crazy. Yet here I am because it was God’s will.
As a thank you, our church offered tickets to see Andy Stanley today in the Kansas City area!! I was so excited… And no surprise, this guy delivered four sessions that were compelling and convicting. The bonus is we got to personally thank him for what Starting Point has done for me, for us and he was gracious enough to let us have our photo taken with him. So many notes taken and I got his book “Irresistible- Reclaiming the New that Jesus Unleashed for the World.” Can’t wait to start reading it 🙂
